Senior Guy Kirby Montgomery was named one of this year's 10 KMBC-TV 9/HyVee scholars. He was awarded a trophy and a $1,000 scholarship. Footage and interviews were done Feb. 2 and the clip aired on the channel 9 newscasts Feb. 7 at 6 and 10 p.m.

Senior Megan Ballock was recognized Feb. 4 as one of 20 finalists in the Wendy's Heisman Scholar/Athlete Award for 2006. She received a bronze medal at a banquet at KU featuring Kendall Gammon as main speaker.
