Sewer woes need attention

January 12, 2006

I would like to express my appreciation for making me feel that I had a voice on the problems I had with my sewer backup, and the city's answer. The normal sewer lines that go from our houses measures four inches in diameter, and the city sewer drain is eight inches in diameter.

The city has no control on what people put down the sewer, but the problem is how do you put something down your toilet that will go through the S shape of the toilet, through your four-inch drain line and plug up the eight-inch line? A watchband and twine will not do it unless it is catching on roots in the main line.

How many times have we had to call a plumber because our child put the toy soldier in the toilet? It won't go down.

Eudora is growing. It is wonderful. I pay more than $2,000 in taxes.

There is new growth, but the old Eudora, I feel, is being neglected, and it is dying. Fix the original part of town.

Don't you feel the same way? If you have had problems with the sewer please call me at 542-2072. We need to see how big the problem is and take it to the Eudora City Council.
