Services for Charlotte Lyn Kingsbury Spitzli, 59, Petoskey, Mich., were Tuesday, Jan. 10, at Stone Funeral Home in Petoskey, Mich., with the Rev. William Heil officiating.

Mrs. Spitzli died Friday, Jan. 6, 2006, at her home. She had cancer.

She was born April 12, 1946, in Ames, Iowa, the daughter of Weldon and Mavis Cunningham Kingsbury. She attended schools at Whittier in Ames, Iowa. She graduated from Boulder (Colo.) High School, Colorado State University and finished her master's degree at Iowa State University.

Mrs. Spitzli was a school counselor in Iowa and also spent 14 years in Asia as a counselor in Seoul, Korea, and Okinawa, Japan, before becoming a counselor in Pellston, Mich.

She held various offices in the Overseas Education Association and was currently serving as secretary of the Pellston Education Association.

She married David Spitzli, formerly of Eudora, on Dec. 28, 1979, in Ames, Iowa. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include her mother, Mavis Kingsbury; two daughters, Tracey Sammons and Sydney Spitzli; a stepson, Matthew Spitzli; two sisters, Audrey Cammack and Debra Craig; a brother, Lowell Kingsbury; and two grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to Hospice of Little Traverse Bay, sent in care of Stone Funeral Home, 2098 E. Mitchell Rd, Petoskey, MI 49770.
