Services for Merle Eugene "Gene" Ingle Jr., 59, Lawrence, were Monday, July 3, at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date.

Mr. Ingle died Thursday, June 29, 2006, at his home.

He was born Jan. 8, 1947, in Lawrence, the son of Merle Eugene and Bertha Speicher Ingle. He graduated from Eudora High School in 1965.

Mr. Ingle served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1965 to 1972. He worked at Broyles Texaco in Lawrence and was a self-taught auto mechanic. He worked as a locksmith and shop manager at Rueschhoff Locksmith and Security in Lawrence from 1984 to 1991, when he opened his own business, Merle's Repair. He became a licensed firearm repairman in 2002.

He married Connie Sue Warren on June 3, 1968, at First Baptist Church in Wellsville. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter-in-law, Katy Maxwell; a brother, Robert Ingle, Baldwin City; two sisters, Clara Ingle, Bremerton, Wash., and Jo Ingle, Las Cruces, N.M.; two granddaughters; and a stepgrandson.

A son, Russell Ingle, preceded him in death.

The family suggests memorials to the Merle Ingle Educational Fund, sent in care of the Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1260, Lawrence 66044.
