Services for Richard Langan, 71, De Soto, were Wednesday, July 12, at Cedar Crest Memorial Chapel in De Soto. Burial was in De Soto Cemetery.
Mr. Langan died Saturday, July 8, at Olathe Medical Center.
He was born April 5, 1935, in Kansas City, Kan., the son of Cecil and Ollie Langan. He was a lifetime resident of De Soto.
Mr. Langan worked at the Delco Remy battery plant for 34 years and retired in 1996. He was a past president of the Jaycees club, started the ambulance service and was fire chief, all in De Soto. He was a municipal judge for De Soto and Linwood. He also helped start the first peewee football team in De Soto and was honored with the De Soto citizenship award in 1970.
He married June E. Lewis on Nov. 25, 1954. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include two daughters, Debbie Thomas, De Soto, and Cindy Adkins, Kansas City, Kan.; two brothers, Claude Cowan, Kansas City, Kan., and Warner Langan, Kingfisher, Okla.; two sisters, Jerry Abel, Eudora, and Pat Riley, Sedalia, Mo.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
