Douglas County Senior Services, Inc., in cooperation with Senior Health Insurance Counseling for Kansas is recruiting volunteers to become trained SHICK counselors.
A regional training session will take place Aug. 8 to 10 in Topeka. Transportation and/or mileage reimbursement may be provided.
SHICK counselors will complete three days of training in order to confidentially counsel beneficiaries regarding Medicare, Medicare supplemental insurance, prescription drug insurance, long-term car insurance and more.
Trained volunteers will have the opportunity to work one-on-one with local Medicare beneficiaries and/or staff the local SHICK Call Center answering a statewide hotline.
For more information, call Douglas County SHICK coordinator Katie Glendening at 842-0543 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
