It’s not often a kicker for a college football team is selected as the new head coach for a relatively new soccer program. But that’s exactly what happened with Matt Higgins in Eudora. There’s nothing to worry about, though, as Higgins said his background is in soccer.

After several 7-on-7 practice games against area high schools, the Eudora High School football team began its annual football camp in earnest. After a full evening of hard work, head football coach Gregg Webb said he was pleased by most of what he saw Monday, compared with the team’s performance at last week’s 7-on-7 showing.

With avid interest in horticulture, it’s not surprising to find Mary Cox planting seeds. She spent 10 years in the Eudora 4-H Club nurturing her interest in plants and flowers. As her interest took root and produced fruit, including a first-place prize at the Kansas State 4-H contest for her plant sciences project, she found her focus changing.
