Estelle Montgomery, Eudora, was one of more than 120 Kansas University students and recent graduates who were recognized at a May 8 luncheon at the Kansas Union for completing the Global Awareness Program during the 2005-2006 academic year.
To fulfill GAP requirements, students studied abroad, took classes with an international focus and participated in international co-curricular activities. The recognition event honored the 49 students and alumni who completed the program in fall 2005 and 77 who finished it during spring 2006.
Montgomery is the daughter of Cindy Higgins and David Montgomery, Eudora.
The William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications at Kansas University honored its top students during an April 26 ceremony. Dean Ann Brill presided at the event in Woodruff Auditorium in the Kansas Union.
Anastacia E. Wolfe, Eudora, received the Bruce Linton Electronic Media Graduate Award, given to an outstanding graduate student who specializes in radio-television.
Twenty-five undergraduate and graduate students were selected by journalism faculty for awards worth a total of $9,100 in writing, editing, reporting, broadcasting, strategic communications and media management.
