Joanna Marie Holmes and Capt. Joseph Michael Lacanlale, both of Manhattan, married Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006, at the Northside Church of Christ with Steve Tandy and Col. Tom Mundie officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Joe and Carol Holmes, Halstead, and the granddaughter of W.C. and Dorene Carter and Edna Holmes, all of Eudora. The groom is the son of Elmore and Regina Lacanlale, Fremont, Calif.
Matron of honor was Sara Dockery. Maid of honor was Megan Holmes. Best men were Capts. Rob McFarren and Jamie Pope. Bridesmaids were Jenny Helverson, Krista Oakley, Denise Brensing and Jessica Lacanlale. Groomsmen were Capt. John Rocha, Jesse Warren, Eric Freeze, Joshua Lacanlale and Ensign Albert Caluag.
Flower girl was Katelynn Dockery. Ring bearer was Joseph Dockery. The flower girl and ring bearer escort was Jason Dockery.
Honor Guard saber bearers were Lt. Col. James Carter, RET, Maj. Jim Ball, Capts. Peter Choi, Virak Metcalf and Kevin Bentz, 2nd Lts. Tommy Womble and Libby Womble, Sgt. Richard Miles and Dwayne Bylery and Jeremy Latchaw.
A reception took place at the McConnell Air Force Base.
The bride is a graduate of Halstead High School. She is an architecture planning and design student at Kansas State University.
The groom is a graduate of Mission San Jose High School. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point, N.Y. He is employed with the United States Army, stationed at Fort Riley.
The couple live in Manhattan.
