Cox awarded scholarship
Kyle Cox, Eudora, was among those awarded a Garvey Competitive Scholarship recently at Washburn University in Topeka.
As one of the top-10 highest scorers on the test, Cox, a home-schooled student, was awarded $1,100 to attend the Topeka university for the 2006-2007 academic year.
Students were eligible to take the scholarship test if they currently had a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or above and will graduate in spring 2006.
Garvey scholarships may be renewed up to four years if the student enrolls full time at Washburn and maintains a cumulative grade point average of 3.0.
The late Ray Hugh and Olive White Garvey, both Washburn graduates, established the scholarship fund.
