How They Voted

March 23, 2006

The House last week approved Senate Bill 461, which would amend the section of the Workers Compensation Act dealing with pre-existing conditions.
The legislation is designed to prevent employers from paying workers' compensation benefits for medical problems the employees had before being hired, such as a bad back.
The House approved the legislation in a 67-56 vote, sending it to Gov. Kathleen Sebelius for her consideration.
Here's how area representatives voted (a yes vote favored the legislation):
Yes: Anthony Brown, R-Eudora; Ray Cox, R-Bonner Springs; Mary Pilcher-Cook, R-Shawnee; Stephanie Sharp, R-Lenexa; Kenny Wilk, R-Lansing
Nays: Marti Crow, D-Leavenworth; Tom Holland, D-Baldwin City; Margaret Long, D-Kansas City; Judy Morrison, R-Shawnee; Candy Ruff, D-Leavenworth
