Mayor supports committee search
March 30, 2006
One hundred fifty years worth of history? Check. Plans for a bronzed statue of the city’s namesake? Check. An annual fall festival that incorporates performances, piles of food and blocks of vendors? Big check. And a group of motivated Eudorans to tie it all together? Not so much –- yet.

Where the rubber meets the workload
March 30, 2006
Rubber materials have become a very essential part of our lives in such a way that we have taken them for granted. If you were to ask most people where the rubber material comes from, many would draw a blank. It’s like the joke that’s heard often, “Where does milk come from?”
Managing bypass issue will be test
March 30, 2006
Eudora has been frequently reminded lately that it doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Perhaps the biggest tap on the shoulder in this regard is the decision by the Kansas Turnpike Authority to support Leavenworth County and the city of Tonganoxie’s favored new exit on the turnpike seven miles straight north of Eudora.
District seeks repeat on assessments
Last year’s strong performance means little in light of a new set of tests
March 30, 2006
Last summer, Eudora USD 491 Superintendent Marty Kobza said the district’s success on the state’s standardized assessment tests was like winning a state championship in six of eight activities. This year, it would be as if the discus toss required a pole and the long jump occurred in an Olympic-sized pool.

As the Eudora softball team took the field, the players knew they were facing a tough team. As it turned out, the toughest team the Cardinals faced was in fact, the Cardinals. Cards open with easy win
March 30, 2006
With chilly temperatures and a biting wind, it looked like anything but spring on Monday as the Eudora baseball team took the field for the season opener against Paola. Fortunately, the Cardinal bats took the home crowd’s minds off the weather. Eudora opened the 2006 campaign by pounding out 12 hits and taking advantage of four errors in an 11-1 run-rule win over the Panthers in Eudora.
