A small study group from the Lawrence Free Methodist Church, which has many Eudora residents as members, will have a food drive from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at C&S Market, 1402 Church St., to help the Eudora Food Pantry and those in need this holiday season.
The food drive is part of the group's "40 Days of Community" study.
The group will be distributing fliers in some neighborhoods and will pick up sacks from those homes. Sacks placed on those doorsteps will be picked up around 10 a.m. Saturday. Anyone who doesn't receive a flier is asked to bring non-perishable food items and goods to C&S Market between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday.
Needed items include canned vegetables, with the exception of corn and green beans; fruit, tuna, chicken, soups -- with the exception of tomato; oatmeal packets, macaroni and cheese, peanut butter, boxed dinners, facial tissues, paper towels and toilet paper. Perishable foods will not be accepted.
Members of the group include Doug and Barbie Hartwell, Bruce and Debbie Howard, Randy and Melissa Mullis, Kurt and Ashley Olson, Brian and Vicky Pontius, Casey and Jamie Tomlinson and Scott and Brenda Wiley.
