Eighteen-year-old Joe White, son of Eudora resident Rose Pyle House, is in critical condition in the intensive care unit at St. Francis Health Center in Topeka after jumping from a moving car.

Don’t panic if gunshots echo across CPA Park Saturday. You might find yourself staring eyeball to eyeball with a grizzled cowboy. Take no care if less than 50 feet away a beauty pageant contestant lazily eats a caramel apple. And yes, one might well see Eudora Mayor Tom Pyle with a microphone ushering everything along. All these things will be on tap for the 2006 edition of EudoraFest –- Eudora’s 10th annual fall celebration.

It hasn’t all been easy for the Eudora girls cross country team since placing fourth in last year’s Class 4A state cross country meet. But things could get sweet again fast, coach Paul Boone said. The team’s tailored workouts were designed the entire time to have the runners ready for the final meets of the season, and now the Cardinals are excited to show off their skills at their only home meet, Thursday’s Eudora Invitational.

In a game that truly measured up to the expectations fans had established, Eudora protected its undefeated record with an Senior Austin Hoover interception with just 19.9 seconds remaining in the game.
