Members of Boy Scout Troop 64 of Eudora participated in EudoraFest by opening the festival with a flag ceremony, and assisting their charter organization -- the Eudora Lions Club -- in providing games for children in the CPA Park on Main Street.
Scouts taking part included Devon Middleton, Colin Forsberg, Andrew Briery, Alex Whitten, Lyle Howell, Joseph Walker and Jonathan Morrison. Scouters who helped were Glenn Jackson, John Scott, Jerry Criqui, Tim Middleton and Bryan Howell.
Eudora Troop 64 camped out at the Boy Scout Camp Bromelsick just wets of Lawrence last Saturday and Sunday.
The Troop competed with six other Scout groups in nine nighttime events. After it was all over early Sunday morning, Troop 64 showed its abilities by finishing first in first aid and in the top three in seven of the nine events.
The Scouts prepared their own meals including a steak dinner Saturday. They also had a worship service Sunday morning before receiving their award trophies and heading for home.
Scouts participating were Tom Stanley, Jim Adams, David Lewis, Justin Male, Colin Forsberg, Devon Middleton, Andrew Briery, Lyle Howell, Alex Whitten and Joseph Walker.
Adult Scouters and parents helping with the troop and camporee events included Roy Lytle, John Scott, Jim and Heidi Briery, Jerry Criqui, Tim Middleton, Bryan and Christie Howell, and Amanda Howell.
The boys also participated in training on Scout skills Saturday morning and a campwide game of "mountain ball" in the afternoon.
Troop 64 is sponsored by the Eudora Lions Club and meets at 7 p.m. Mondays at the old Eudora Middle School, 10th and Main streets.
