Book discussions
The Linwood Library has several book discussions planned. The next discussion is set for 6 p.m. Monday.
The book "Rise and Shine: A Novel" by Anna Quindlen will be discussed.
November selections include "Julie and Julia: My Year of Cooking Dangerously" by Julie Powell Nov. 13 and "River's Edge" by Marie Bostwick Nov. 27.

What do you think about a proposed ban on smoking in public places such as restaurants, bars and workplaces?
As much as I hate government interfering with our lives, I love the smoking ban. Going out in Lawrence is so nice without smelling cigarette smoke at your table while eating.
