Fund-raiser set
Douglas County Senior Services will have a fund-raiser from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the senior center, 745 Vermont St., Lawrence.
Tickets are $10 per person and include chili, dessert and prize bingo. All proceeds will go to support Bus 62, which provides door-to-door transportation to Douglas County residents so they can remain independent and active in their communities.

What do you think about a proposed ban on smoking in public places such as restaurants, bars and workplaces?
As much as I hate government interfering with our lives, I love the smoking ban. Going out in Lawrence is so nice without smelling cigarette smoke at your table while eating.
