Oldsters United for Responsible Service will celebrate its 25th anniversary in conjunction with its annual picnic from noon to 6 p.m. Sept. 22 in building 21 at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, 2120 Harper St., Lawrence.

The picnic will be a carry-in meal with O.U.R.S. providing the meat, coffee, tea and an anniversary cake.

Those planning to attend are asked to bring table service.

All current and former members and friends are invited to attend.

O.U.R.S. was organized in 1981 by a small group of people who met weekly at the Douglas County Senior Services Center in Lawrence for dancing and socializing.

Established as a non-profit organization and supported by donations from the members, O.U.R.S. has provided financial and practical assistance to numerous organizations, charities and individuals through the years.

O.U.R.S. continues to sponsor dances at the senior center from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesdays and from 6 to 9 p.m. Sundays at the senior center.
