The seventh-grade varsity volleyball team won both of its season opener matches Aug. 29 against Clark Middle School and Tonganoxie at Eudora Middle School.

In the first games against Clark Middle School, Katelyn Abel was the top server with six points. In the next game, Chloe Pittman created a serving frenzy.

In the Tonganoxie games, Morgan Wiley served six points while teammate Madeline Dickerson served a whopping 10 points.

  • The seventh-grade junior varsity went into its first match of the season against Clark Middle School of Bonner Springs.

The team swept all three games, 25-11, 25-13 and 15-9.

Lauren Gammon, Ashley Nitchals and Sarah Prudden led the team in serving.

In the second match against Tonganoxie, Eudora came up against a more talented team, but again took the first two games and chalked up another win for the Cardinals, 25-13 and 25-20. Eudora dropped the third "for practice and fun" match, 15-10.

"The girls have made enormous gains in their skills and abilities since our first practice," coach Dana Neis said. "The wins are well deserved."

  • The eighth-grade varsity volleyball team won its first match of the season Aug. 29 by beating Tonganoxie in three games 25-22, 21-25 and 16-14.

Eudora played Clark Middle School in the second match and lost 25-13, 25-23.

Wiley said both games were hard fought and impressive.
