The Sept. 13 Eudora United Methodist Women's meeting was called to order by President Elva Kindred. Louise Weeks gave the devotion, "Building a Culture of Peace." Her scripture was taken from Paul's letter to Timothy.
Fern Long then gave a talk "Dedicated Christians," from a book published in 1914 about the people and the circuit preachers of that day and the hardships they endured to spread the word of God. It was about the Evangelical Association before the United Methodist or the United Brethren were in existence.
Eudora resident Jean Reynolds, who is district president of the United Methodist Women, gave a talk on the national and international women's conference she attended in Anaheim, Calif. She talked about the different speakers and programs at the conference.
Cards were signed and sent to members with health problems -- Eva Belle and Carrol Gerstenberger, Clarice Morriss and Gertrude Coon.
The following list of officers were read and will be installed in December: Elva Kindred, president; Amye Scott, treasurer; Judy Hundley, program resources secretary; JoAnn Becker, cards, gifts and flowers; Jean Hall, social action; Bertha Nichols, membership, nurture and outreach; Susie Dickerson, spiritual growth; Arlene Lawson, publicity; and Norma Gienau, local church responsibility.
The meeting closed with the president and members reciting the UMW benediction.
Refreshments were served by Elizabeth Woods and Louise Weeks.
