Lackluster effort finally catches up to Cardinals
April 12, 2007
Things were going well for the Eudora baseball team Monday night against Louisburg. After a scoreless, but fast, first three innings, senior Kent Swanson smacked a line drive to right field for a single. Meanwhile, junior Matthew Abel bolted toward home, scoring the first run of the game.
Cutting it close
Cardinals don’t have luxury of comfort in most recent victory
April 12, 2007
A win is a win. But after the Eudora softball team’s 1-0 win against Louisburg Monday, coach Cara Kimberlin wasn’t exactly celebrating. Kimberlin was thinking about how close the game was and she couldn’t stop thinking about one aspect: Eudora’s poor hitting.

Instrumental dreams
Handcrafting instruments lifelong passion for local man
April 12, 2007
Scot Hamlin could work months crafting a guitar, but never hear its voice. He could hear hints of it, he said. He could tap the wood and hear a certain tone. As he’s shaping the body, he could catch a certain vibration. But it’s not until the instrument touches the hands of a musician that Hamlin finally hears it sing. “There’s nothing like the first time someone who is an accomplished player fires it up,” Hamlin said.

Variety show coming together
Show starts at 7 p.m. Saturday
April 12, 2007
CORRECTION: The time of the show is 7 p.m., not 7:30 p.m. While members of the Eudora Quilt Guild had their monthly meeting Tuesday in the basement of St. Paul United Church of Christ’s building, musical strains by The Four Tops, Blondie and the score of “Grease” filtered down from above. With the music, came the periodic thumps of people dancing. The sounds stopped for minutes at a time before starting up again. The performers had a schedule to keep –- show time is less than a week away. “It’s crunch time,” Katie Beery said.
