Obituary: Lowell E. Copp

Graveside services with military honors for Lowell "Dode" E. Copp, 84, Lawrence, Monday, April 9, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence.

Mr. Copp died Thursday, April 5, 2007, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born Jan. 17, 1923, in Eudora, the son of Carl J. and Anna Snow Copp.

Mr. Copp served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He served in the 555th Combat Engineers at Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. He worked as a union carpenter.

He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Alford-Clarke Post No. 852, Fraternal Order of Eagles Mount Oread Aerie No. 309 and Lawrence Lodge No. 6 A.F. & A.M.

He married Virginia Dodson on June 12, 1949, in Oskaloosa. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Leslie "Sue" Kerns, Tucson, Ariz.; four sons, Dennis Copp, David Copp and Doug Copp, all of Lawrence, and Danny Copp, Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister, Isadora Dahlene Sadler, Lawrence; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Warren-McElwain Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
