Police report
Saturday/August 4
- Accident. At about 2:05 p.m. in the area of Ninth and Maple streets, officers worked a two-vehicle non-injury accident.
- Arrest. At about 6:15 p.m. in the area of Grandview Mobile Home Park, officers arrested a 23-year-old female on out-of-county warrants.
Sunday/August 5
- Arrest. At about 1:40 a.m. in the area of K-10 mile marker 11, officers arrested a 32-year-old male for driving under the influence.
Monday/August 6
- Arrest. At about 12:50 a.m. in the area of K-10 mile marker 11, officers arrested a 22-year-old male for driving under the influence.
- Child in need of care. At about 9:50 p.m. in the area of Grandview Mobile Home Park, officers took a 17-year-old male into custody as a child in need of care.
Wednesday/August 8
- 911 hang up. At about 3:50 a.m. in the 1300 block of Birch Street, officers responded to a 911 hang up. Officers discovered the resident was having phone problems.
- Utility theft. At about 8:45 a.m. in the 1000 block of Walnut Street, officers received a report of utility theft. Officers forwarded the report to the municipal court.

What do you think about a proposed ban on smoking in public places such as restaurants, bars and workplaces?
As much as I hate government interfering with our lives, I love the smoking ban. Going out in Lawrence is so nice without smelling cigarette smoke at your table while eating.
