The eighth-grade junior varsity Lady Cardinals traveled to Wheatridge in Gardner for tournament play Saturday to finish the season, looking to rebound from a loss earlier in the week and end the season strong. They did just that, coming home with first place.
In the first game, the Cards defeated the Wheatridge Mustangs 20-8. Julianna Fries led the way with six points. Cassie Roberts and Madeline Dickerson each had four. Jocelyn Medrano had three. Sarah Prudden had two, and Beverly Virtue scored one.
Eudora faced Louisburg in the second game, and although it was closer, the Cardinals prevailed with a 21-14 victory. Fries again led the way again with eight points, Virtue scoring seven, Roberts four and Dickerson had two points. Each girl left with a first-place medal.
The squad finished the season with a 13-3-1 record.
