Preliminary reports of Eudora's school district buildings were in, with a grade card showing Eudora Middle School and Eudora High School desperately needing improvements.
Jim French, principal of the architectural firm DLR Group of Overland Park, shared the preliminary findings, which were the opinion of the firm, with the school board. He reported it could cost up to $7 million dollars for a remodel of Eudora Middle School.
French cited problem areas with non-structural aspects of the EMS building as well as the plumbing, fire alarm and intercom, heating, lighting and electrical systems.
He suggested adding four classrooms at Eudora High School and said it would need additional gymnasium space, bathrooms, commons area and cafeteria space to handle an expansion and students to accompany it.
The cost of constructing a new high school or middle school was not included in the report.
