Rec Center update
Eudora Parks and Recreation and the Lawrence Red Cross will have a certification babysitting clinic from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 16 at the Eudora Community Center, 1638 Elm St.
The clinic is intended for youth ages 9 to 12 and will teach CPR, first aid and how to respond to an emergency.
There is a fee and participants are asked to bring a sack lunch.
Registrations are being accepted at the Eudora Community Center. The deadline date is Feb. 11.
¢ Eudora Parks and Recreation will have a Christmas Camp through Friday of this week and No School Play Days Dec. 26 to 28.
Certified teachers and aides plan activities for the children including movies, crafts, games and more.
There is a daily fee of $20 or a weekly fee of $85. Parents must provide a sack lunch.
No School Play Days will also take place Jan. 2 and Feb. 18 for $20 per child.
¢ Adult women's volleyball is taking registrations for the winter league. Deadline to sign up is Jan. 3 with matches beginning Jan. 13. There are eight guaranteed matches with champions and runners-up receiving T-shirts.
Cost is $100 for each team.
¢ Teams are needed for the men's basketball league. There will be a 10-game season with champions and runners-up winning T-shirts. The deadline for registration is Jan. 2, with games beginning Jan. 7.
Cost is $250 for each team. A six-team minimum is required to offer the league.
Forms are available at the recreation office.
¢ Those who would like to be placed on a recreation bulletin mailing list are asked to e-mail the recreation department at firstname.lastname@example.org with basic contact information. Those who sign up for the mailing list will be alerted about upcoming programs.
