Obituary: Darla Cox

1939-2006

Graveside services for Darla Cox, 67, Lawrence, will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Maple Grove Cemetery in Lecompton.

Mrs. Cox died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006, at the Hillside Village in De Soto.

She was born Feb. 28, 1939, in Lawrence, the daughter of Elmer and Edna Marie Williams Carlson. She graduated from Lawrence High School in 1957.

Mrs. Cox worked as a PBX operator for Executive Answering Service/Yellow Cab. She also worked for Allen Press and Scotch Cleaners and was a member of Parents without Partners, Square Dancing Club and the American Kennel Club with 4-H.

Survivors include three daughters, Gaylene Jones, Overbrook, Perri Kolars, Shawnee, and Linda Ellison, Eudora; a brother, Chris Carlson, McLouth; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.

The family suggests memorials to the Darla Cox Memorial Fund, sent in care of the mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence 66044.
