Obituary: Frances M. Ramirez

1932-2006

Services for Frances M. Ramirez, 74, Lawrence, formerly of Horton, was Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007, at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Horton. Burial was in St. Leo's Catholic Cemetery, Horton.

Mrs. Ramirez died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006, at her home.

She was born June 8, 1932, in St. John, N.D., the daughter of George and Leah Aiken Jeannotte.

Mrs. Ramirez was a former director of the food distribution program at the United Tribes of Northeast Kansas. She was a member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians of North Dakota, and St. Leo's Catholic Church and altar society, both of Horton.

She married Tony Ramirez on July 5, 1952, in Horton. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include three sons, Michael Ramirez, Lawrence, Martin Ramirez, Lebo, and Mark Ramirez, Longmont, Colo.; five daughters, Lou Ann Scott, Eudora, Lisa Morgan, Laurie Ramirez, Toni Wheeler and Trina Ramirez, all of Lawrence; a brother, Elmer Jeannotte, Topeka; a sister, Evelyn Ramirez, Horton; 16 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the Midland Hospice or Hope Lodge, sent in care of the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary, 909 Central Avenue, Horton 66439.
