Yellow Dot Program

January 4, 2007

Douglas County Senior Services, Inc., is launching the Yellow Dot Program in Douglas County. The Kansas Yellow Dot kit gives first responders such as police, EMS workers and firefighters a visual aid to recognize when occupants of a motor vehicle have special medical information stored in their vehicle.

A Kansas Yellow Dot sticker is placed on the lower rear driver's side window. The recipient(s) fill out the medical information form provided and attach a recent photograph of themselves to the envelope. The information is stored in a bright yellow envelope in the recipient's glove box. This gives first responders information about the occupants of a motor vehicle should those occupants be unable to respond.

Kansas Yellow Dot is a free kit available to Kansas seniors age 55 and older. The Kansas Department on Aging and Lyon County RSVP are responsible for expanding the program to all 105 Kansas counties.

Kits are available in Douglas County at Douglas County Senior Services, Inc., 745 Vermont St., Lawrence.
