Scouts earn rankings
Troop 64, Boy Scouts of America, had its Court of Honor Dec. 18 at Salem Chapel, the troop's meeting place for 31 years.
Nathan Gentleman and Lyle Howell each earned the rank of Life Scout. Alex Whitten received Star Scout rank. Connor Bradley, Nathan Bradley, Devon Middleton and Andrew Briery were awarded Tenderfoot rank and Brandon Wheelock earned Scout rank. Michael Whitten was recognized for recently earning Eagle rank.
Merit badge patches were received by Jonathan Morrison, Hawley Montgomery, David Lewis, Justin Male, Tom Stanley, Joseph Walker, Brandon Wheelock, Connor Bradley, Nathan Bradley, Devon Middleton, Andrew Briery, Alex Whitten, Nathan Gentleman and Lyle Howell.
Those who received awards for trekking the Rimrock Trail at Camp Naish included Scouts Andrew Briery, Colin Forsberg, Lyle Howell, Connor Bradley, Nathan Bradley, Jonathan Morrison, Alex Whitten and Nathan Gentleman and Scouters Jim Briery, Jerry Criqui, Roy Lytle, Bryan Howell, John Scott, Damon Bradley, Jim Morrison and Glenn Jackson.
Committee Chair Christie Howell recognized adults who have helped with troop activities this year including Scoutmaster Glenn Jackson and assistants Jim Morrison, Jerry Criqui, Roy Lytle, Karen Lewis, Kenan Staples and committee members Tim Middleton, Duane Gentleman, Tom Whitten, Bryan Howell, Damon Bradley and Paul Walker.
Certificates were also presented to Heidi and Jim Briery, Paula Bradley, Christie Howell, Arlene Whitten, Amye and John Scott, and Kasey Morrison for their help.
Christie Howell received a certificate of appreciation from the unit commissioner for all the work she has done since becoming committee chairperson.
Following the presentations, Scouts, Scouters and families enjoyed refreshments provided by the Howell and Morrison families.
Troop 64 is sponsored by the Eudora Lions Club and meets at 7 p.m. Mondays at the Eudora Community Learning Center, Tenth and Main streets. New Scouts are always welcome.
