When the idea came to Brent Meyers, he was thinking outside of the box. In fact, he was in his chiropractic office –- Meyer’s Chiropractic Clinic in Lawrence.
During an appointment, one of his patients came to him with the idea of opening a self-storage business off Kansas Highway 10.
In the end, the patient bowed out, but the project caught fire with Meyers.
“I did it, he didn’t,” Meyers said.

Susan Ashley never really liked guns.
When an envelope came to her business, Ashley Alterations and Tux Rentals, with a sign sporting a no gun symbol, she had no problems affixing it to her store window. The sign features the black silhouette of a gun inside a red circle crossed out by a diagonal line.

After a rough time at Basehor-Linwood’s Bobcat Classic, the Eudora wrestling team entered Saturday’s Paola Invitational tournament a little bruised but still able-bodied. Throw in a stomach flu circulating around the team and add in two seniors still recovering from injuries and you have a wrestling team at least temporarily down for the count, however.
