The regular meeting of the East Central Kansas Cooperative in Education Board of Directors took place Jan. 9 at the Cooperative Central Office in Baldwin City. Members present were Blaine Cone, Susan Rader, Ande Parks, Ardith Bell, Jim Martin, director Caren Lowe and clerk of the board Sue Martin. Kenny Massey was unable to attend.
Jim Martin made a motion to approve the financial reports and disbursements as presented. Susan Rader seconded the motion. It passed by a 5-0 vote.
Board members were given a brief overview of the fiscal year 2006 audit report.
Ardith Bell made a motion to change the office staff sick leave days to 12 discretionary days accumulative to 65, prorated for fiscal year 2007. Susan Rader seconded the motion, which passed by a 5-0 vote.
Following perusal of the revised office staff job descriptions, Ande Parks made a motion to accept the descriptions as presented with the addition of an evaluation procedure to the IMC Coordinator's description. Susan Rader seconded the motion. It passed by a 5-0 vote.
Following discussion, Ardith Bell made a motion to approve the additional paraeducator support at Nottingham Elementary School to Janelle Arb's morning Preschool Enhancement Program class. Jim Martin seconded the motion, which carried by a 5-0 vote.
Ardith Bell made a motion to increase Amy Cunningham's contracted time from .5 to 1.0 and to approve a paraeducator contract for Sandy Beets for fiscal year 2007 at $7/hr as per her request. Ande Parks seconded the motion and it passed by a 5-0 vote.
Blaine Cone asked the Board members to fill out the director's evaluation form and send them to her for compilation before the next board meeting.
Blaine Cone informed the Board of Baldwin's new contract for fiscal year 2008 regarding virtual school options and the impact it may or may not have for the cooperative students and Board.
Caren Lowe discussed testing issues and handed out articles of interest to the Board members regarding No Child Left Behind.
The East Central Kansas Cooperative in Education is the special education cooperative that serves Eudora, Baldwin and Wellsville.
