The Eudora USD 491 Board of Education unanimously approved the purchase of land Thursday for a new first- through fifth-grade elementary school. The purchase is contingent on the passage of a $45 million bond referendum Nov.6.

Cardinal Football Camp for athletes in grades one through four will be from 8:15 to 9:45 a.m. July 23 to 26 at the practice field at Eudora High School. Sessions for fifth- and sixth-graders will take place from 10:15 a.m. to noon.

In honor of the city’s sesquicentennial celebration in 2007, the Lions Club and City of Eudora are raising funds for a bronze statue of Chief Paschal Fish and his daughter, Eudora, the community’s namesake. The statue will be placed in the CPA Park in downtown Eudora. It will be unveiled Oct. 6 during the sesquicentennial/EudoraFest celebration. Engraved bricks are available for purchase and will be placed around the base of the statue.
