The Rev. Lisa Gardner of St. Paul United Church of Christ tells youngsters about the desert Monday during a combined St. Paul UCC and Eudora United Methodist Church Vacation Bible School. Children ages 3 to sixth grade took part in various activities and crafts. The theme for this year's camp was "Lift Off."

What do you think about a proposed ban on smoking in public places such as restaurants, bars and workplaces?
As much as I hate government interfering with our lives, I love the smoking ban. Going out in Lawrence is so nice without smelling cigarette smoke at your table while eating.
