Youth writing contest
The Kansas Author's Club, a statewide organization for anyone interested in writing, announces its 2007 Youth Writing Contest for Kansas students in grades 1 through 12.
Entrants may submit one entry in each of three categories: fiction (to 500 words), non-fiction (to 500 words) and poetry (to 40 lines). Entrants are grouped into five age divisions: Grades 1-2, Grades 3-4, Grades 5-6, Grades 7-8 and Grades 9-12. Winners get medals for first through third places, plus honorable mentions at the judges' discretion.
There is no entry fee. Postmark deadline is June 15, 2007.
Winners will be announced Oct. 5 at the Kansas Authors Club Convention in Wichita.
