Obituary: Donna B. McKenzie
Graveside services for Donna Belle McKenzie, 77, Waverly, were Tuesday, June 12, at Highland Cemetery in Ottawa.
Mrs. McKenzie died Thursday, June 7, 2007, at Newman Regional Health Center in Emporia.
She was born July 24, 1929, in Welda, the daughter of Lloyd E. and Lena Irene Seyler Dilts. She graduated from Wellsville High School in 1947 and attended nursing school in Kansas City. She moved to Waverly in 1985 from Ottawa. She moved to the Ottawa and Pomona area in 1963 and had previously lived in Topeka.
Mrs. McKenzie was a cook at several Ottawa and Pomona restaurants, including Pomona Cafe, Lee's Downtowner, Hill House and Ottawa Country Club. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Waverly.
She married John E. McKenzie on Aug. 11, 1948, in Joplin, Mo. They later divorced.
Survivors include four sons, John R. McKenzie, Overbrook, James R. McKenzie, Ottawa, Terry A. McKenzie, Eudora, and Chris McKenzie, Lafayette, Tenn.; a daughter, Marsha Vedder, Inman; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the Donna McKenzie Memorial Fund, sent in care of the Dengel and Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa 66067.
