Food drive under way
Curves of Eudora will have a food drive in March for the local food pantry.
From March 1 through March 10, anyone bringing a full bag of non-perishable food items to the business can join Curves with no service fee.
However, food pantry donations are not limited to those planning to join the exercise club. Anyone can drop off food items from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; from 8 a.m. to noon and 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays; and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays. To schedule a drop off for a time other than regular business hours, call 542-2389.
The food drive is to help the Eudora Food Pantry housed as St. Paul United Church of Christ, Eighth and Church streets.
The food pantry is running low on food and has asked for canned soup, spaghetti sauces, hamburger helper dinners and cereals.
This is the ninth year Curves International has taken part in the food drive. Last year, Curves gathered 11 million pounds of food. This year's goal for 2007 is 15 million pounds.
In addition to dropping the service fee for those bringing a bag of food the first 10 days of March, other prizes will be available to current members. The member who brings in the most pounds of food will receive the fees for the month of April at no charge.
