Boys satisfied with improvements
March 8, 2007
Going into the 2006-2007 Eudora boys basketball season, coach Kyle Deterding said he had some questions and concerns. With the entire 2005-2006 starting lineup gone, Deterding said he was initially unsure how the team would band together and fill the huge void left by the 2006 graduates. Turns out there wasn’t much to worry about. The result was a winning record of 11-10, just down from the 14-7 record from last year.
Triumphs trump dreary ending for wrestlers
March 8, 2007
Sure, the end of the 2006-2007 Eudora wrestling season may have mirrored the end of the previous season — in disappointment. Five wrestlers advanced to the state tournament, but they were all eliminated by the third round, making it another medal-less road trip to Salina.

Eudora girls can’t hang on for bid to state tourney
March 8, 2007
You didn’t need to be Nostradamus to pick this one. Tonganoxie entered Saturday’s sub-state final with a 20-1 record and an ironclad grip on Class 4A’s top ranking. Eudora entered the game praying to improve its record to better than .500. Though it was the Cardinals that moped off the court and their cheeks that were slick with tears, they gave everyone that had the Chieftains penciled in as the sub-state champions some unexpected sweat on the brow and four quarters worth of fast heartbeats.

Two alert passersby prevented a possible tragedy by spotting a burning Ford F-150 truck in front of a residence early Tuesday morning at 1110 East 2200 Road south of Eudora. The burning vehicle caused an estimated $19,000 worth of damages for homeowner Norma Dixon, according to a Douglas County Sheriff’s report. The fire caused $7,000 in damages to the home and $12,000 to the truck, Sheriff’s spokeswoman Lt. Kari Wempe said.
