Cat show

March 8, 2007

Third-graders Kylie Carter, Jacob Smith (hidden), Zack Stephens and Trevor Neis show off their cat puppet creations Friday. The group based their work on Dr. Seuss' book "The Cat in the Hat." The group, part of Mrs. Hammerschmidt's class, made the puppets as part of the National Education Association's "Read Across America" program. Schools across the country took time to read and celebrate the birthday of Theodor Seuss Geisel.

In addition to creating the puppets, students had the opportunity to make their own hats and take part in trivia games. Elsewhere in the district, Nottingham Elementary School kindergartners were served green eggs and ham Thursday by Jason Gray's culinary arts class.
