Burn permits needed
City ordinance requires permits for any outdoor burns.
Eudora City Fire Chief Randy Ates urges anyone considering an outdoor burn to first contact the fire department. The chief or a designated firefighter will come out to the location and inspect the burn pile. If no hazards are found, the department officer will issue the permit on site. Only organic material can be burned.
The city prohibits burning of shingles, plastics or trash.

As much as I hate government interfering with our lives, I love the smoking ban. Going out in Lawrence is so nice without smelling cigarette smoke at your table while eating.
