Obituary: Darlene Saile

Funeral services for Darlene Brecheisen Saile, 74, Lawrence, were Friday, May 18, at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial was at Vinland Cemetery in Vinland.

Mrs. Saile died Monday, May 14, 2007, at Brandon Woods Retirement Community.

She was born Nov. 23, 1932, in Baldwin City, the daughter of Henry A. and Noma J. Byrd Brecheisen. She graduated from Baldwin High School in 1951.

Mrs. Saile worked in retail sales at J.C. Penney for five years. She later worked at the Douglas County Courthouse for eight years and for Jayhawk Siding for five years, retiring in 1989. She also owned and operated D & D Walnut Crackers, a family business she assumed after her father's death.

She was a member of Vinland United Methodist Church and the Rebekah Lodge in Lawrence.

She married Darrell D. Saile on July 21, 1951, in Clearfield, south of Eudora. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include two daughters, Diana Duver and Deena Jensen, both of Baldwin City; a brother, Donald Brecheisen, Conway, Ark.; and four grandchildren.
