Eudora girls track takes second at 4A state
Ballock claims state championship in 300 hurdles
Emily Ballock cruised to her third Class 4A 300-meter hurdles gold in as many seasons at the Class 4A state track meet Friday and Saturday in Wichita. Ballock ran the event in 43.86 second. She also took fourth in the 100 hurdles (15.68), sixth in the 200 (26.70), and helped the Cardinals' 1,600 relay team of Alisha Wingebach, Tianna Dunnaway, Brittney Graff and Ballock to a third-place finish in a time of 4:03.21. All told, Ballock had a hand in 22 of Eudora's 44 team points.
Graff took third in the 1,600 in a time of 5:05.08. The 400 relay team of sophomores Wingebach, Kendal Abel, Dunnaway and Rachel Pyle took second in 50.11 seconds.
The girls 3,200 relay team of Liz Hoese, Lauren Colman, Bre Miller and Graff took 14th in a time of 10:37.15 and Allison Hoover finished ninth in the pole vault, clearing 9-0 feet.
Freshman Justin Ballock, the lone state qualifier for the boys team, claimed second in the 300 hurdles in a time of 41.34.
