Obituary- Clarence N. Cokeley

Services for Clarence N. "Nut" Cokeley Jr., 82, Liberal, were Friday, Oct. 26, at First United Methodist Church in Liberal. Burial was in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Cokeley died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2007, at his home.
He was born May 23, 1925, in Gridley, the son of Clarence N. and Grace Baxter Cokeley. He attended school in Palco. He moved to Liberal in 1951.
Mr. Cokeley served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked in oil fields for many years. He later worked for Hodges Candy for 10 years and drove trucks for C&N Trucking for eight years. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3166 in Liberal.
He married Dorothy J. McClellan on Aug. 19, 1949, in Palco. She died March 29, 2000.
Survivors include two sons, Will Cokeley, Eudora, and Mark Cokeley, Liberal; two sisters, Ila Balthazor, Palco, and Joann Phillips, Wakeeney; six grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
The family suggests memorials to the Clarence & Dorothy Cokeley Scholarship Fund, sent in care of the Miller Mortuary, 908 N. Lincoln Avenue, Liberal 67901.
