Eudora City Council approved Tuesday traffic studies to evaluate the intersection of Church and 23rd streets at Eudora High School as well as 10th Street because of the proposed Deer Valley development, the TIF district, the Intech Business Park and the new elementary school that will be built in the area of 10th and Peach street.

We’ve heard the past week talk the of the good turnout for the Eudora USD 491 bond referendum. Compared to voter participation in spring/city elections or most primaries, which routinely tops out somewhere between 20 and 30 percent, it was a good turnout.

Last Thursday, I arrived home after a busy morning of work to a quiet house. My wife was away having one of the cars repaired, so I let out the dogs from their cages in the garage. They were ecstatic. Minnie spun four to five times in her characteristic Kansas tornado routine. Suzie, the border collie, went immediately for the nearest throw toy and returned begging for me to throw it. I picked up the wet tennis ball and heaved it as far as I could, dashing in the back door while she ran it down. I quickly changed into my grubbies and headed back outdoors. It was a glorious fall afternoon, and I was not going to spoil it by being inside. As I went out the door, I grabbed the key to the pickup.

The eighth grade varsity team lost to Paola last Thursday 29-18. Paola jumped out to a 15-8 lead in the first half. The Lady Cards managed just two points in the third quarter but outscored Paola 8-6 in the fourth.

Eudora senior Emily Ballock didn’t go to the school board earlier this fall looking to be a guinea pig. She didn’t compete and perform her way through the fall sports season as an experiment.
