Rec center update

December will see a few Christmas-theme activities at the Eudora Aquatic Community Center.
The grand opening of the center will be at 4:30 p.m. Sunday. Santa Claus will make an appearance.
Youth ages 5 to 12 will have an opportunity to make a gingerbread house at 1 p.m. Dec. 9. There is an $8 fee.
Children ages 3 to 5 will have a preschool Christmas crafts program at 6 p.m. Dec. 10. It is a chance for the children to make their own Christmas gifts for their parents. There is a $5 fee.
Calls from Santa will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 18. Parents are asked to call the recreation department at 542-1725 to register their child. There is no charge for the call.
Youth basketball registration forms are available at the recreation department office at 14 E. Seventh St. Because the deadline has passed, those who sign up late will be charged a $15 fee.
The league will be offered for first- through sixth-grade boys and girls. Practices will begin in December and games will start in January 2008.
For youth ages 3 through 5, a four-session clinic will take place.

Teams are needed for the men's basketball league. Registrations are currently being accepted. Games will be played on Wednesday evenings beginning in January 2008 at the new community building.
There is a fee to participate and includes a 10-game guarantee. A six-team minimum is required to offer the league.

Those who would like to be placed on a recreation bulletin mailing list are asked to e-mail the recreation department at with basic contact information. Those who sign up for the mailing list will be alerted about upcoming programs.
