Pinecrest news

Eighteen residents and friends enjoyed the potluck dinner Saturday at Pinecrest II clubroom.

The Halloween party will be Halloween night instead of Sunday.

  • Tillie Bichelmeyer's nephew Tom Mersman, Paola, had open-heart surgery Monday at KU Medical Center. The replaced part of his aorta, a valve and two artery bypasses. He is doing OK and will be dismissed this week.

  • Tillie Bichelmeyer's sister-in-law Frances Smith, Slater, Mo., and her son-in-law Larry Singer, Lee's Summit, Mo., came to visit Thursday morning. They all went out for lunch.

  • Tillie Bichelmeyer and Emma Jean Taylor drove to Ellen Moll's in Lenexa where Julia Polfer, Leawood, and Jan Kelley, Overland Park, joined them for lunch. They played pinochle in the afternoon.

  • Darlene Randel attended the 1954 graduating class of Baldwin High School reunion Saturday evening at the home of Marilyn Wintermantle Good.

Those attending were Barbara Craig Bryan, Richard Rodewald, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Kanzig, John Dillion, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Ingle, Mr. and Mrs. Don Schwartz, Richard Sutton, Melvin Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Reynolds, Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Breithaupt, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hobson, Mr. and Mrs. Harry North, Patsy Potter, Diane Sturm and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Sturm.

After dinner, the evening was spent visiting and recalling the last 53 years.

  • Bertie Morris and Clarice Morriss visited Berniece Wilson Sunday afternoon at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

  • Felicia Brown, Lawrence, came to visit her mother, Alta Vorhies, Monday morning.

  • We had a cousin get-together Wednesday a the home of my sister Edna Holmes.

Those enjoying the dinner and an afternoon of visiting and reminiscing were Winnie Scott, Mary Ellen Scott and Jay Harris, all of Portland, Ore., Jack and Helen Hines, Erie, Howard and Carol Bells and Leola and Millard Murray, all of Lawrence, and Edna and myself.

  • I was a dinner guest Friday evening of my son and daughter-in-law David and Rhonda Tuggle in honor of my grandson Austin's 13th birthday. Other guests were Bob and Cherry Easton, Gardner, Sharon Stolemaker and Elva Kindred.

I attended the annual pig roast Sunday at the home of my son and daughter-in-law David and Rhonda Tuggle in honor of their son Austin's birthday. Many relatives and friend enjoyed the food and an afternoon of visiting.
