Obituary: Mary Shranklen

Private memorial services are planned for Mary Fulcher Gentry Shranklen, 68, Topeka. She was cremated.

Mrs. Shranklen died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007, at her home.

She was born June 19, 1939, in Port Huron, Mich., the daughter of Gordon and Della Fulcher. She grew up in Lawrence and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1957. She lived in Topeka since 1989.

Mrs. Shranklen worked at Medical Arts Pharmacy, Wickes Lumber Co. and Penny's Ready-Mix, all in Lawrence, and Community Commerce Credit Union and Pfizer, both in Topeka.

She was a member of several organizations, including the Lawrence Jaycee Janes and Lawrence Sweet Adelines.

She married Melvin Gentry. They divorced. She married Bill Shranklen in 1989. He died in February 2007.

Survivors include a son, Jon Gentry, Lawrence; a daughter, Kristi Gentry, Oskaloosa; a sister-in-law, Sue Fulcher, Eudora; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Mrs. Shranklen was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman Fulcher and Dennis Fulcher; and two sisters, Cheryl Fulcher Pine and Suzanne Fulcher.

The family suggests memorials to Heart of America Hospice of Topeka, 3715 S.W. 29th Street, Suite 20, Topeka 66614.
