Obituary: Thomas G. Swain
Memorial services for Thomas G. Swain, 70, Baldwin City, were Wednesday, Sept. 12, at Clearfield United Methodist Church in Eudora. Military honors followed.
Mr. Swain died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born July 11, 1937, in Topeka, the son of Horace and Lena Kidwell Swain. He earned a degree from Washburn University and a master's degree from Emporia State University.
Mr. Swain served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963. He worked for the Social Security Administration in Topeka and then in Kansas City, Mo., from 1962 to 1996.
He married Marian Gates on Sept. 26, 1962, in Furth, Germany. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a daughter, Marne Green, Baldwin City; two sons, Kirk Swain, Eudora, and Kevin Swain; a sister, Dixie Reilly, Commerce City, Colo.; and four grandchildren.
A brother, Gary Swain, preceded him in death.
