Middle school volleyball
The eighth-grade varsity volleyball team moved its record to 12-0 after winning its own tournament Saturday.
The first match, the team beat Wellsville 25-20, 25-15. Next, Eudora defeated Osawatomie 25-15, 25-18, and for the final match in pool play, beat Piper 25-6, 25-22.
Eudora advanced to the championship game where the team faced a very tough Tonganoxie team.
The first game was won 25-16, and the second game was a nail biter but the Cards were victorious at 25-24.
The Cardinals split with Ottawa in action Monday with scores in the first match of 25-11, 22-25, 11-15.
This was the Cardinals first loss of the season, but regrouped and defeated the Cyclones in the second match 25-11, 25-13.
Coach Brenda Wiley said Madeline Dickerson displayed amazing hitting ability and Katelyn Abel, Morgan Wiley and Shelby Mullis supported Madeline with great hitting and blocking.
Ashlyn Jackson and Jen Bowser showed maturity and athleticism in their setting, and Kate Dennis played an awesome libero for the Cards, Wiley said.
Victoria Lehmann's serves were impossible to return giving us more momentum, and Chloe Pittman and Auston Katzfey both played well in this incredible team effort, Wiley said.
The Cards play at 4 p.m. Monday at Wheatridge Middle School in Gardner.
The eighth-grade junior varsity volleyball team had a rough time with the Ottawa Cyclones Monday night. The Cardinals took the Cyclones to three games in the first match, but lost 21-25, 25-18, 10-15. In the second match, the Cardinals had trouble with the Cyclones' serves and fell in two games, 8-25 and 12-25.
The seventh-grade varsity volleyball team took on the Ottawa Cyclones Monday at Eudora Middle School.
The girls lost a match and won a match. The first game scores were 25-14,
11-25 and 9-15. In the second match Eudora won in the third game. Scores were 25-11, 24-25 and 15-11.
The girls will play in a tournament at 9 a.m. Saturday in Bonner Springs.
The seventh-grade junior varsity volleyball team won twice in matches against Ottawa Monday night at EMS.
Eudora snatched a win in the first match, going three games.
The Cards barely lost the first game with a score of 24-25, with eight point serves from Darian Graham.
The team turned the tide in the second game, winning by eight, with a final score of 25-17. Going to a third and final game, the Lady Cards pulled out a 15-13 victory.
The second match was more easily won. The first game went to a tight finish, ending in a Cardinal win 25-23.
With powerful serves from Molly Smith, the girls wrapped up a match win in the second game, 25-15.

Sunflower Broadband Channel 6 will telecast the Eudora-Gardner Edgerton football game Friday at Laws field.
Replays of the games will be shown at 10:30 p.m. Friday and at 11 a.m. Saturday.

The Eudora High School soccer game against Tonganoxie that was postponed last week because of inclement weather will be made up as a varsity only game at 6 p.m. Oct. 4 at Tonganoxie.
The game will be played in the park on the east side of the district's football field in Tonganoxie.
