High School choir to perform masterwork at winter concert

December 11, 2008

The Eudora High School Choral Department will present its annual Winter Concert on at 7:30 pm Monday in the EMS Auditorium.

Audience members will be treated to holiday favorites as well as the masterwork performance of Vivaldi’s “Gloria”, which will feature the combined high school choirs with a guest chamber orchestra.

This performance of Vivaldi’s challenging choral masterwork will mark the Eudora Choral Department’s first masterwork in at least twenty-five years.

The concert also will feature the second annual Alumni and Community Sing, where alumni, parents, siblings and community members are invited to join the high school choirs for a rehearsal prior to the concert at 6:45 p.m. and to subsequently perform with them on the concert finale, “Silent Night” and “Carol of the Bells”.

The concert is free and open to the public.  A cookie and punch reception sponsored by the Eudora Cardinal Choir Supporters will follow the concert in the commons.

Choir parents are asked to bring items to the concert to share with our guests and each other.

The choirs will be having a bake sale and singing candy-gram sale this week at the high school to compensate the chamber orchestra members for their performance. Items will also be available at the girls basketball tournament on Thursday evening at the high school.
